Items concernlng the County Road Department were mentioned, and Mr. Eckert will !discuss them with the C~unty Road Superintendent. ! . Pioneer Days at i Mr. Ken McIntyre was present to invite all members of the Commission to attend Bonanzaville I the annual Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville. , Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file the communication !from Nardini Fire Equipment Company regarding a service agreement on the County's ifire extinguisher equipment. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. ! The County Auditor presented a rough draft of some guidelines concerning the i,creation of special assessment districts. The Commission asked for a review by the I States Attorney and that they receive a copy of the guidelines in writing prior to the I Commission meeting next Tuesday. i Courthouse mattersl Architect Richard Moorhead was present and the Board _discussed some matters concerning disc. with Arch. ithe bell tower restoration project, sound-proofing the District Court Room, and the I condition of the wood floors in the Courthouse hallways. I; Mr. Moorhead discussed future plans for Courthouse office space. He stated that there could be some cost-savings if the Board did not extensively remodel the present ,courthouse but constructed a south wing which would be correlated with the addition :on the north side of the Courthouse. The Commission has been considering selling I the Cass County Annex building, and a south wing would provide additional office space I for those departments now located in the Annex. The Commission felt they need to study lthe feasibility of this and the matter is to be placed on the agenda in two weeks I for further discussion. I I Mr. Moorhead stated that there is some artwork painted on the inside of the dome I area of the Courthouse, and Mr. Wieland suggested finding someone to photograph that I artwork so that it can be viewed by everyone. It is in an area which is not easily I accessible, and some of the paintings have been damaged by the installation of the elevator , in the center of the Courthouse. Mr. Moorhead had some ideas on restoring them. National Registerl The County Auditor reported that he and Mr. Moorhead met with a representative of Historic Plcs-iof the State Historical Society regarding the application for a listing in the entire block !National Register of Historic Places. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded incl. Cthse, Jaill that the entire block containing the Courthouse, the County Jail and the Sheriff's & .Shff. Residence! Residence be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. On roll call vote. to be listed : the motion carried unanimously. I up I Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Duane Hoehn, County Auditor, Ibe authorized to spend up to $700.00 to have Dr. Norene Roberts from Historical Research,In~. i prepare the necessary application for the listing in the National Register of Historic i Places. Cthse--artwork ,painted on dome area Aud. to spend to &700.00 to have the appl. completed Coroner services discussed The Auditor received a bill from Engineering Design of Fargo in the amount of $195.00 for work on the jail ventilation project and a bill from Halvorson, Moore, Sprague and Moore in the amount of $614.60 for services regarding the jail ventilation. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the above two bills for payment from the County Emergency Fund. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the Auditor be authorized to pay the bill submitted by Meinecke-Johnson Company in the amount of $10,516.00 under their contract for the Courthouse bell tower restoration project. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Wieland reported that the temperatures in the County Jail were high during the past week with the extreme heat temperatures outside, but it was able to be cooled down at night to a more comfortable temperature due to the ventilation being much improved. On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AUGUST 16, 1983 Chairman Eckert called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were preSenLj Mr. Eckert stated that he spoke with Dr. Robert Morrison from Dakota Clinic, who the I,. County contracts with for coroner services. However, Dakota Clinic, informed the Commission that they will not be renewing their contract effective September 1st. Mr. Eckert has made I some contacts with area doctors and he requested the other Commissioners to assist in i finding someone to take over the coroner services for the County.
