Items concernlng the County Road Department were mentioned, and Mr. Eckert will <br />!discuss them with the C~unty Road Superintendent. <br />! . <br />Pioneer Days at i Mr. Ken McIntyre was present to invite all members of the Commission to attend <br />Bonanzaville I the annual Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville. <br /> <br />, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file the communication <br />!from Nardini Fire Equipment Company regarding a service agreement on the County's <br />ifire extinguisher equipment. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />! The County Auditor presented a rough draft of some guidelines concerning the <br />i,creation of special assessment districts. The Commission asked for a review by the <br />I States Attorney and that they receive a copy of the guidelines in writing prior to the <br />I Commission meeting next Tuesday. <br />i <br />Courthouse mattersl Architect Richard Moorhead was present and the Board _discussed some matters concerning <br />disc. with Arch. ithe bell tower restoration project, sound-proofing the District Court Room, and the <br />I condition of the wood floors in the Courthouse hallways. <br /> <br />I; Mr. Moorhead discussed future plans for Courthouse office space. He stated that <br />there could be some cost-savings if the Board did not extensively remodel the present <br />,courthouse but constructed a south wing which would be correlated with the addition <br />:on the north side of the Courthouse. The Commission has been considering selling <br />I the Cass County Annex building, and a south wing would provide additional office space <br />I for those departments now located in the Annex. The Commission felt they need to study <br />lthe feasibility of this and the matter is to be placed on the agenda in two weeks <br />I for further discussion. <br /> <br />I <br />I Mr. Moorhead stated that there is some artwork painted on the inside of the dome <br />I area of the Courthouse, and Mr. Wieland suggested finding someone to photograph that <br />I artwork so that it can be viewed by everyone. It is in an area which is not easily <br />I accessible, and some of the paintings have been damaged by the installation of the elevator <br />, in the center of the Courthouse. Mr. Moorhead had some ideas on restoring them. <br /> <br />National Registerl The County Auditor reported that he and Mr. Moorhead met with a representative <br />of Historic Plcs-iof the State Historical Society regarding the application for a listing in the <br />entire block !National Register of Historic Places. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded <br />incl. Cthse, Jaill that the entire block containing the Courthouse, the County Jail and the Sheriff's <br />& .Shff. Residence! Residence be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the Auditor be authorized to pay <br />the bill submitted by Meinecke-Johnson Company in the amount of $10,516.00 under their <br />contract for the Courthouse bell tower restoration project. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland reported that the temperatures in the County Jail were high during <br />the past week with the extreme heat temperatures outside, but it was able to be <br />cooled down at night to a more comfortable temperature due to the ventilation being much <br />improved. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />AUGUST 16, 1983 <br /> <br />Chairman Eckert called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were preSenLj <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert stated that he spoke with Dr. Robert Morrison from Dakota Clinic, who the <br />I,. County contracts with for coroner services. However, Dakota Clinic, informed the Commission <br />that they will not be renewing their contract effective September 1st. Mr. Eckert has made <br />I some contacts with area doctors and he requested the other Commissioners to assist in <br />i finding someone to take over the coroner services for the County. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Stanton and seconded by Mr. Larson, the meeting was adjourned. <br />
