<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />61(),1 <br /> <br />.!'-'!'IIl~.T~ii'lii'ii;iQ llil:;-':A~QQ\.-N. o. .nliiii_ <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and file the following <br />Officer's Reports for June, 1983: Motion carried. <br /> <br />Clerk of Court <br />County Court <br />Register of Deeds <br />Sheriff <br />Veterans Service Office <br /> <br />$ 4,180.25 <br />$22,816.35 <br />$11,840.50 <br />$ 9,696.81 <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Vouchers No. 35,222 through <br />No. 35,958 and Revenue Sharing Vouchers No. 357 through No. 359 be approved and ordered <br />paid. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Auditor read a letter from the North Dakota Attorney General granting a 30-day <br />variance as requested by Sheriff Don Rudnick on the dietary allowance for the jail meals, <br />as the Sheriff is making an effort to comply with the regulations. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the dome on the Courthouse be <br />painted black and white according to a photograph prepared by the Architect in connection <br />with the Bell Tower Restoration project. On roll call vote,' the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The County Auditor gave an updated report on the County's financial condition. <br />He stated that the cash balance at the end of June, less the bills that were approved <br />by the Commission this morning, amounts to $1,788,226.00. This leaves a deficit of <br />$295,157.00 but with the County's Revenue Sharing Funds, the projected deficit at the end <br />of this year will be $115,680.00. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to solve the accoustical problems <br />in the new Courtrooms of the Courthouse Addition by soundproofing the doors on both <br />the County and the District Courtrooms at a cost of $190.00, and to install accoustic <br />panels on the rear wall of the new District Courtroom at a cost of $2,150.00 as recommended <br />by Architect Richard Moorhead. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Board discussed the noise problem with the air conditioning unit on top of the <br />garage north of the jail. Mr. Wieland q~estioned altering the air conditioning unit <br />in any way as he felt it may decrease the operating efficiency. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. stanton seconded to recess the Board of County <br />Commissioners' meeting until 3:30 P.M. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RECESSED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />JULY 12, 1983 <br /> <br />Chairman Eckert called the meeting to order at 3:30 P.M. and all members were present. <br /> <br />Representatives from Johnson Controls, Inc. and from Robert Gibb and Sons, Inc. <br />have been working on the jail ventilation problem since this morning, and their <br />recommendation is to install some windows in the hallways at a cost of about $600 to $800. <br />They stated that there are some maintenance problems which need to be attended to <br />about once per year, and air vents need to be cleaned and some dampers opened. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Mr. Wieland be appointed to head a <br />committee of three Commissioners to work on the ventilation problems in the jail <br />between now and next Tuesday and to expend up to $3,000.00 for this purpose. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />A legal matter was brought before the Board by States Attorney Bob Hoy. Upon his <br />recommendation, Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to Admit Service and to <br />Execute Confession of Judgement in the amount of $27,500.00 regarding the <br />Timothy Huschka Case. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Stanton and seconded by Mr. Larson, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />.
