<br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

<br />
<br />Chairman Hendrickson called the meeting ~o order and three members were present,
<br />iMrs. Wold and Mr. Larson being absent.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting
<br />;be -approved as written. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />Bids were received from the following for asphalt paving on roads in Forest River
<br />Subdivision, Chrisan and Chrisan Second Subdivisions and a part of Chrisan-Glen
<br />Subdivision in Stanley Township:

<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the above bids be referred to the
<br />project engineer for review, and a report back to the Board next Wednesday. On roll call
<br />vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be authorized to
<br />sign the request for Federal Aid funds to replace a bridge on County Road 6 over the
<br />Rose Coulee Drain #27 at an estimated cost of $150,000.00 on an 80%-20% matching basis,
<br />and the Cass County Drain Board participating to the extent of 60% of the County's share.
<br />On roll call vote, the motiqn carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mr. Eckert moved that Cass County take over the maintenance of the one-half mile
<br />!of road leading from the Woods Elevator to County Road 36. Mr. Hendrickson relinquished
<br />:the Chair to Mrs. Stanton for the purpose of seconding the motion. The motion carried
<br />on roll call vote with Mr. Hendrickson and Mr. Eckert voting "Aye" and Mrs. Stanton opposing.
<br />
<br />A hearing was held on the Application for Abatement and Settlement of Taxes submitted
<br />;by Arnold Kuhn. Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax Equalization,
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve the abatement as submitted
<br />for Arnold Kuhn. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to appraise the property at the
<br />.full amount of 5-years delinquent taxes as shown on the 1981 Tax Sale List. On roll call
<br />vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the following Officer's Reports
<br />,for September be received and filed. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Richard Moorhead, Architect for the Courthouse Addition, was present to discuss
<br />several items.
<br />
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County Auditor be authorized
<br />to advertise for bids for furnishings and window coverings for the Courthouse Addition.
<br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the general contractor on the
<br />Courthouse Addition be authorized to proceed with the reconstruction of the service counter
<br />which is too high in the County Court office on a time and materials basis not to exceed
<br />$3,948.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to grant a permit to the Chaffee
<br />High School Senior Class to hold a raffle on the date of October 26, 1981, at the
<br />Chaffee High School. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to receive and file with regrets
<br />the letter of resignation of Bernie Reynolds as the County Planner, effective
<br />October 31, 1981, and that a letter be written to Mr. Reynolds thanking him for his
<br />service to the County. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Upon the recommendation of the States Attorney by letter dated October 8, 1981,
<br />.Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to rescind the Board's motion of September 30,
<br />1981, to borrow money for the purchase of a Champion Motor Grader and to invest the
<br />Road Department equipment funds in money market certificates. On roll call vote, the
<br />motion carried unanimously.
