<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />!<_H:,,~"II!.!.!iHTU,!~ co.~i..i~GO~- N,-D: <br /> <br />59!)!) <br /> <br />THe County Auditor received an estimate from the Fischer Tree Service for removing <br />five trees on the Courthouse property which have Dutch Elm disease. The Auditor <br />was informed that more of the trees will have to be removed in the near future <br />because of this disease and that it would be more costly. to remove them at a later <br />date if the County were to start a tree planting program in the meantime. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Fischer Tree Service be <br />authorized to remove five trees from the Courthouse property at a cost of $685.00, <br />and to ,look into the possible removal of more. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton reported that the City of Fargo has agreed to pay one-half of the bill <br />from the Valley Veterinary Hospital for the care and keeping of dogs which were removed <br />from a Fargo residence by a Court Order. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded <br />from the Cass County Housing Authority Board, <br />to complete the unexpired term of Mr. Runck. <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />to accept the resignation of Clayton N. Runck <br />and to appoint Richard Hilborn of Durbin <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried <br /> <br />, <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded tp appoint Oscar Sondrall of Fargo'. <br />to represent Cass County at the North Dakota State Fair Association Annual Meeting <br />to be held in Bismarck on November 16, 1981. On..roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Commission determined to meet on Tuesday, November 17th, instead of Wednesday <br />that week due to the Annual County Commissioners Convention beginning on November 18th. <br /> <br />Richard Moorhead, Architect for the Courthouse Addition, quoted a price of $18,000.00 <br />for adding rest-room facilities in the basement of the addition. The Auditor stated <br />that this would have taken up some of the space intended for storage. <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve a change order in the <br />Courthouse Addition in the amount of $587.00 to provide bullet protection <br />consisting of a metal shield in the bench of the County Court Judge, as has already <br />been done in the District Court chambers._ On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />'unanimously. - <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the change order in the <br />Courthouse Addition in the amount of $254.-00 for relocating the hold button stations <br />for the new elevator. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Maxine Liversage, County Treasurer, appeared before the Board to discuss <br />the purchase of furniture for her office in the addition. The Board instructed her <br />and the Auditor to obtain a firm price and bring it back to the Board next week. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized <br />to purchase a new safe from Dakota Safe Company in the amount of $2,094.00 for her of.fice <br />in the Courthouse Addition. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to appoint Maura Jones, Roger Schwinghammer, <br />Alvin Johnson, Patrick Curran and Commissioner Pat Wold to represent Cass County on the <br />Region V Human Services Council. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Upon the request of Irv Rustad from the Lake Agassiz Regional Council, Mr. Larson <br />moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize the use of the right of way on Co~nty Road 17 <br />leading to Horace for a bicycle path, with no financial obligation on the part of the <br />County.
