THe County Auditor received an estimate from the Fischer Tree Service for removing five trees on the Courthouse property which have Dutch Elm disease. The Auditor was informed that more of the trees will have to be removed in the near future because of this disease and that it would be more costly. to remove them at a later date if the County were to start a tree planting program in the meantime. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Fischer Tree Service be authorized to remove five trees from the Courthouse property at a cost of $685.00, and to ,look into the possible removal of more. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Stanton reported that the City of Fargo has agreed to pay one-half of the bill from the Valley Veterinary Hospital for the care and keeping of dogs which were removed from a Fargo residence by a Court Order. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded from the Cass County Housing Authority Board, to complete the unexpired term of Mr. Runck. unanimously. to accept the resignation of Clayton N. Runck and to appoint Richard Hilborn of Durbin On roll call vote, the motion carried , Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded tp appoint Oscar Sondrall of Fargo'. to represent Cass County at the North Dakota State Fair Association Annual Meeting to be held in Bismarck on November 16, 1981. On..roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The Commission determined to meet on Tuesday, November 17th, instead of Wednesday that week due to the Annual County Commissioners Convention beginning on November 18th. Richard Moorhead, Architect for the Courthouse Addition, quoted a price of $18,000.00 for adding rest-room facilities in the basement of the addition. The Auditor stated that this would have taken up some of the space intended for storage. Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve a change order in the Courthouse Addition in the amount of $587.00 to provide bullet protection consisting of a metal shield in the bench of the County Court Judge, as has already been done in the District Court chambers._ On roll call vote, the motion carried 'unanimously. - Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the change order in the Courthouse Addition in the amount of $254.-00 for relocating the hold button stations for the new elevator. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Maxine Liversage, County Treasurer, appeared before the Board to discuss the purchase of furniture for her office in the addition. The Board instructed her and the Auditor to obtain a firm price and bring it back to the Board next week. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to purchase a new safe from Dakota Safe Company in the amount of $2,094.00 for her of.fice in the Courthouse Addition. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to appoint Maura Jones, Roger Schwinghammer, Alvin Johnson, Patrick Curran and Commissioner Pat Wold to represent Cass County on the Region V Human Services Council. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Upon the request of Irv Rustad from the Lake Agassiz Regional Council, Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize the use of the right of way on Co~nty Road 17 leading to Horace for a bicycle path, with no financial obligation on the part of the County. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The Board received a Mail-O-Gram from the National Association of Counties requesting Cass County to protest the proposed cut in Federal Revenue Sharing funds.
