<br />Weed Control Progress Report August 6, 2018 <br /> <br />Period from July 9 to August 6, 2018 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />No new business <br /> <br /> <br />Monthly Report <br /> <br />2019 Proposed Budget Presentation: The Weed Board 2019 proposed budget <br />was presented to the County Commission on July 26. The Commission <br />approved the 2019 proposed budget as presented, no modifications. Included in <br />the budget was $6000 for increasing the secure chemical storage area and <br />increasing the spraying budget $50,000 to a total of $390,000. This increase will <br />require Weed Control to monitor the expected carryover reserves so as not to <br />deplete the reserves but will allow the Weed Board to control weed infestations <br />that come up unexpectedly. Enclosed is a spreadsheet given to the Commission <br />outlining our historical spraying expenses and proposed spraying expenditures <br />over years. <br /> <br />One-Ton Truck: The one-ton was delivered and taken over to Bert’s Truck <br />Equipment to have the truck bed, tool boxes and water tank installed. Running <br />boards and mud flaps were installed by Line X. Truck setup is complete. <br /> <br />The 2004 ¾ ton pickup will be auctioned on PublicSurplus.com this week. <br /> <br />Sprayed areas along Co 17 and Co 6 north of Horace. Sent out letters to <br />landowners regarding weeds on property. <br /> <br />Been using the drone to socut for weeds on various properties and CRP acres. <br /> <br />Sprayed gravel pile at Gardner for Cass Co Highway Dept. <br /> <br />Diversion weeds: Received copy of letter from Diversion Authority to County <br />Commission regarding weed control at diversion inlet south of Horace. Annual <br />field weeds were uncontrolled in an area between Cass Co 17 and a farmers <br />field. Diversion Authority mowed the weeds. <br /> <br />Office flood: On Friday, August 20 a minor flood occurred in the Weed Control <br />building. A vector control employee used our tank fill hose to fill a water tank and <br />abruptly shut off the valve. This caused a water hammer which popped open the <br />pressure relief valve on the water heater. This occurred when we were out of the <br />office. When we returned about ½ hour later water had flowed out into the <br />converence area and into the office, wetting the carpet. A rug shampooer was
