<br />Commission Minutes--August 5, 2002 2473 <br /> <br />financial worker grade B22 to a senior financial worker grade B23. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to authorize PRIMERICA <br />to include brochures with county employee payroll checks and to inform <br />the company they would need to hold meetings with any interested <br />employees off-campus and during non-business hours. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />12. FARGO CASS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, Introduction of new president <br />Brian Walters, the new President of Fargo Cass County Economic Developrnent Corporation <br />(FCCEDC), was introduced by Chairman Wieland, with comments by John Meyer and Scott <br />Wagner, who serve on the FCCEDC Board of Directors representing Cass County. <br /> <br />Mr. Walters provided some background information on hirnself and his employment record. <br />He talked about the newest activity in the county, a seed plant at Mapleton, and provided <br />statistics on recent economic grow1h in Cass County. <br /> <br />13. JAIL TRANSITION TEAM, Update bv Sheriff's Department/chanQe orders approved <br />Michele Boucher, Sheriffs Department, reported on increased activity in the jail by the <br />contractors after the chairman met with them last week about the facliity's completion date. <br />Ms. Boucher said the security equipment from Norix Group Inc. has been delivered and <br />installed, the metal detectors have been calibrated and are working properly, all of the jail <br />clothing has arrived, the kitchen equipment is installed, door keys are being tested, and staff <br />training will be completed by the end of August. The consultant, James Rowenhorst, was <br />in Cass County last week meeting with the transition team. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said the dedication of the new jail facility is set for August 28,2002, at 1 :00 PM, <br />with a VIP Overnight being scheduled for the evening of August 29th. He plans to meet <br />weekly with the transition team on Fridays for a progress report from now until the building is <br />completed. <br /> <br />Mike Montplaisir, County Auditor and member of the transition team, asked the board to <br />consider two change orders. He said the State jail inspector recommended installing <br />security screens over the louvers in the recreation area. Another change order is to provide <br />fire suppression equipment in all of the electrical rooms, rather than a sprinkler system, <br />which would damage the electrical equipment when activated. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve a jail change <br />order to install security screens on the louvers in the recreation areas, at <br />a cost of approximately $6,500.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve a jail change <br />order for fire suppression equipment in all of the electrical rooms, at a <br />cost of up to $100,000.00, the County Coordinator to work directly with <br />the mechanical contractor to get the job done. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />
