MEETING UPDATES; BUILDINGS & GROUNDS REPORT; NATIONAL NIGHT OUT <br />PROCLAMATION; STATE'S ATTORNEY UPDATE; NEWS CONFERENCE ON ZOO <br />SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS, Committee reports <br />Commissioners reporied on meetings they have attended in the past few weeks. Mr. <br />Wieland, Mr. Wagner and Mrs. Sonum attended the National Association of Counties <br />convention in New Orleans last week. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson said an insert on the new jail is being prepared by The Forum to be <br />included in the August 24th edition at no cost to the county. She said arrangements are <br />being made for the VIP Overnight at the new jail. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said the county received a proclamation from the City of West Fargo to <br />declare August 6th, National Night Out. All area commissions were asked to sign and <br />commissioners agreed that the chairman sign the proclamation. <br /> <br />Birch Burdick, State's Attorney, said he and his attorney staff returned last week from the <br />National District Attorney's Association Conference in Bismarck. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said a news conference is planned tomorrow moming on behalf of the City of <br />Fargo. She said Mayor Furness called and asked one representative from each poiitical <br />entity to be present. Mr. Wieland agreed to attend. The news conference is about special <br />assessments at the zoo. The city would like to pay the assessments through a tax <br />increment district until the current specials of $750,000 are paid. <br /> <br />,-. <br /> <br />14. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />notice to affected property owners from the City of Fargo regarding petition for <br />variance on WDAY property at 301 8th Street South in Fargo; <br />copy of a letter from North Dakota Department of Health to Bob Schmidt of Waubun, <br />Minnesota, regarding unauthorized waste disposal site on his property adjacent to <br />the Sheyenne River south of Kindred, North Dakota; <br />copy of a letter from Norih Dakota Department of Health to Lyle Schock of West <br />Fargo, North Dakota, regarding unauthorized waste disposal site on his property in <br />Riverview Estate Subdivision in Cass County. <br /> <br />15.
