<br />Commission Minutes--July 1, 2002 2461 <br /> <br />Captain Glenn Ellingsberg dated June 19, 2002. On roll call vote, the <br />.......... motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />17. JAIL, Purchase orders for Office Interiors, Grainqer and Swanston Equipment <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve and authorize the <br />chairman to sign purchase orders for the new jail for computer monitor <br />racks from Office Interiors, for shelving installation and miscellaneous <br />items from W.W. Grainger, and for a skid steer loader from Swanston <br />Equipment. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />18. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Appoint aRent for law enforcement block Rrant proqram <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to appoint Glenn Ellingsberg <br />as the contact person and agent for the purpose of completing any <br />electronic application and other filings for the Local Law Enforcement <br />Block Grant Program. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />19. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Mark Sand & Gravel: Houston EnRineerinQ: BurlinQton <br />Northern and Santa Fe Railwav <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the following <br />contracts submitted by the respective department head, subject to state's <br />attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />,.... <br /> <br />Mark Sand & Gravel Company for an overlay project on County Highway 5 from <br />County Highway 34 north to County Highway 26 in the amount of $202,110.16; <br />Houston Engineering for two bridge replacement projects to add to the future <br />Federal Aid Bridge Replacement program, one being the County 10 bridge (12th <br />Avenue North) over the Sheyenne River north of West Fargo and the second being <br />the 64th Avenue bridge over the Sheyenne River, two miles north of Horace and '!. <br />mile west of County 17; <br />Burlington Northem and Santa Fe Railway Company to install concrete crossings <br />on County Highway 22 at a cost of $16,000.00 and County Highway 1 at a cost of <br />$6,400.00. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, Request to add Leonard Elevator road to countv system <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, brought back a request from Dakota Vision LLC to add the <br />Leonard Elevator access road to the county highway system. In a memorandum to the board <br />dated June 20, 2002, Mr. Berndt provided background information and discussed the terms <br />of a proposed construction and maintenance agreement for this section of road. <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />Mr. Bemdt emphasized to the Board that if the decision is made to add this section of road to <br />the county highway system, the county commission ultimately owns the road and would have <br />liability In the event something happens on that road. He said the township is agreeable to <br />maintaining the road, however, that could change in future years. Aiso concerning the <br />liability, State's Attorney Birch Burdick said liability issues can arise due to the way a road is <br />maintained. <br />
