Anticipated Outcomes: Increase in the number of requests for parenting classes outside of the Fargo area. <br />Increase in the requests for resources (videos, books, printed materials) in Region V. <br />5. Measuring Outcomes: Count and report the number of new groups requesting parenting programming or services <br />who received our marketing packet during the 2002.2003 program year from the six counties. <br />6.lnpllt from others: A master list of names to include in the targeted mailing will be gathered from a variety of <br />sources including telephone books, previous mailing lists, Extension staff in each county, as well as collaborators <br />and other contacts in each county. <br /> <br />D. Evaluation <br />Evaluation of the NDSU Extension/Parenting Resource Center programs is on-going and consistent. All parent <br />education classes taught throughout Region Yare evaluated by the participants. An evaluation tool will be <br />included with the ten new NDSU Extension Brown Bag Bytes Bright Beginnings parenting lessons. <br /> <br />E. Budget & Budget Narrative (See attached budget fonn for a detailed line item budget) <br />Coordinator Salary & Benefits: The request is for 25% of the Coordinator's salary, with DHS/Drug Free North <br />Dakota and the NDSU Extension Service as the other funding partners. Benefits are 30% of salary and provided by <br />the NDSU Extension Service. <br />Support Staff: A temporary support agency is used for support staff assistance. This staff person will provide <br />program assistance, including photocopying, answering the telephone, preparing monthly fiscal reports, ordering <br />supplies and materials, distribution of monthly newsletter, and general maintenance of the PRC Library. <br />Educational Programming includes: <br />*Parent Educator Facilitators: Good programs are delivered by well-trained, knowledgeable individuals. <br />Each facilitator will be paid hourly for preparation time and delivery. The average rate is $20lhour for <br />facilitators with a college degree. <br />*Train-the-Trainer Programs: Provide opportunities for parent educators and and other professionals in the <br />community (teachers, counselors, youth workers, social workers, etc.) to increase their knowledge and <br />skills in using new parenting and parenting for prevention curricula and resources, as well as expand their <br />subject-matter knowledge on particular subjects, topics, or current issues. <br />*Reference & Resource Library: Additional books, videos, curriculum and research.based support <br />materials reflective of protective factors are available to all parents and professionals at no charge to check <br />out. Copies of popular parenting videos and books will be made available to each county in Region V. <br />*Child Care: Free child care is provided for parents attending parenting classes either at a drop-in day care <br />center, Kids Kingdom, or at the class location. <br />*Parent Transportation: Cab service is provided for any parenting requesting it to attend a parenting class. <br />*Media Campaie:n: Covers media costs such as newspaper and community magazine ads, PSAs, billboards, <br />and marketing materials, in order to create community awareness of prevention focused parenting, <br />educational programs for families, and the Parenting Resources Center. <br />Office Telephone/Fax: Request is to provide the cost of office telephone and fax basic service and long distance. <br />Office Suooles: Request is to pay for half of the office supplies to operate the program. <br />Postage: Request is to provide $120 toward postage that is not covered under NDSU Extension Penalty Mail. <br />NOSU will cover the cost of the penalty mail service. <br />Newsletter Print/PaDer: The monthly newsletter, "Parenting Essentials & Extras" provides parents and <br />professionals with up-to-date information on the availability of classes. Site, content, registration infonnation, <br />child care and transportation infonnation are listed. The current mailing is around 900 individuals and agencies. <br />NDSU Extension Service provides penalty mailing service for the distribution of the newsletter. Request is to pay <br />for the cost of printing and paper for the Parenting Essentials & Extras newsletter. <br />COpy Machine Usage: Request is to cover half the expense for copy machine usage for the program. <br />Professional DeveloDment: Request is to provide $1,500 toward professional development opportunities. <br />Travel/Per Diem: Request is to cover 75% of travel and per diem for the Coordinaror's travel expenses. <br />Capitol Outlav: Request is to pay for half the cost of a laptop computer tor the program to be used for developing <br />lesson plans, power point presentations, etc. The NDSU Extension Service will provide a 50% cost share. <br /> <br />, <br />
