Discussion: Mr. Wieland suggested installing signs indicating the road at the back of the property is for jail business only and not intended for access by the general public. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. JAIL CHANGE ORDERS, Approved for Qeneral and electrical contractors Bonnie Johnson asked the board to amend the agenda today to consider change orders that were recently provided to her by the architect. Two change orders exceed $5,000, and it is the county's policy that these be brought to the county board for action. MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved Mr. Wagner seconded to approve the jail change order with Meinecke-Johnson Company in the amount of $5,694.00 for structural changes made on the second level at the Cass County Jail; and approve a change order in the amount of approximately $7,900.00 to Bergstrom Electric for the installation of a remote testing device for the fire alarm and smoke detection equipment in housing area E. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Airport security coveraQe discussed Sheriff Don Rudnick received a consensus from the Board to proceed with considerations on hiring retired police officers for airport security at Hector International Airport in Fargo, providing there is no cost to Cass County Government, including management of the program. He said the Federal Government will not continue to provide this service, and they are looking for local entities to assume the responsibility. Sheriff Rudnick said the Fargo Police Department does not believe they can provide the service because it may affect retirement benefits for their officers. Mr. Wagner said he would like more information on this program, and the Sheriff said he would bring it back to the board before any action is taken to assume security measures at the airport. Commissioners received a letter from United States Senator Byron Dorgan regarding homeland security issues. Mrs. Sorum provided copies of a response from Cass County Emergency Manager, Greg McDonald. 22. VOUCHERS, Approved MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approye Voucher No. 163,157 through No. 163,669. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 23.
