In that the house is vacant and is located on agricultural land, it
would be exempt from taxation. The information that you provided on your
mobile home would indicate that it is taxable. However, them are a number bills
before the Legislature that may modify the requirements for meeting the
exemption statutes. If and when they become law, I will forward a revised'
application to you.

I will not be signing the enclosed letter that you've prepared for my signature.
I'm employed by Cass County to represent the county in taxation issues, and I
cannot be an advocate for a taxpayer in a crop insurance issue. Also, I do not
know that all of the information presented is fact.

In regards to drainage issues, you will need to contact the respective water
boards directly. However, I did remember that the board stated that it is your
responsibility that the drain be surveyed for elevation. I've enclosed the
valuations on certain sections as you requested. In regards to land planing in
Wiser Twp., I personally observed recent planing and ditching improvements in
the SW 1/4 of section 20.

In regards to questions regarding your rights to file appeals, I would suggest that
you hire the services of an attorney. As you mentioned that you were the
Amen/a Township assessor for 35 years, I'm sure that you understand how the
assessment process works.

l~x 2806
211 Ninth Str~ South
Fargo, No~ Dakin 58103

Sincerely, ,

Frank Klein
Cass County Director of Equalization

Enclosures

FAX 701-241.5728
