<br />Commission Minutes--February 19, 2002 2415 <br /> <br />8. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENTIBOMB SQUAD, Award Dresentation to Sanders Metal Products <br />Dean Wawers, Sheriff's Department/Bomb Squad Commander, was present along with Sheriff <br />Don Rudnick, Fargo Police Chief Chris Magnus and West Fargo Police Chief Arland Rasmussen <br />to present an award to Todd Sanders, Sanders Metal Products. Mr. and Mrs. Todd Sanders <br />were present and he was given a plaque, read by Mr. Wawers, recognizing him for his <br />contribution amounting to about $1 0,000 in time, materials and expertise to construct and mount <br />a bomb containment transport device on a county trailer, which was then donated to the regional <br />bomb squad. Chairman Wieland also thanked Mr. Sanders for the generous contribution. <br /> <br />9. JAIL TRANSITION TEAM, UDdate bv Countv Sheriff <br />Sheriff Don Rudnick reported on the jail transition team activities for the period of February 4-15, <br />2002, according to a list provided by Walt Willis today. He said team members took an average <br />of 44 hours of leave during this time period and worked ten hours of assigned duties for the <br />Sheriff's Department. The task of screening and reducing the number of job applicants has <br />begun. There was an overwhelming response to the advertisements for new positions. <br /> <br />10. VOUCHERS, ADDroved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />160,770 through No. 161,380. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. BUILDING AND GROUNDS UPDATE; RED RIVER ZOO TASK FORCE, Committee reDorts <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, reported that the Information Services remodeled space <br />on the second floor of the Courthouse is now completed and ready for occupancy. <br /> <br />The county commission was asked to appoint a representative to the Red River Zoo task force <br />to discuss the benefit of the zoo to the community as a whole and to discuss special <br />assessments against the property. The first meeting of the task force is set for 7:00 PM on <br />Thursday, February 21,2002, at the zoo's carousel pavilion, and Chairman Wieland appointed <br />Commissioner Sorum to represent the county on this task force. <br /> <br />12. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: notice from the <br />State of North Dakota Division of Emergency Management regarding <br />the fiscal year 2002 allocation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />13.
