Commission Minutes-May 2, 2005 2896

Mr. Pawluk said the bow hunting subcommittee put a lot of time into the issue and received
input from the residents, Sheriff Rudnick and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
The committee had already recommended not allowing hunting in Orchard Glen because of
other recreational uses there; and in visiting with Stanley Township, it became obvious the
people of Forest River had strong feelings against the proposal. He and Mr. Wagner are in
agreement to keep the county's no hunting policy on county-owned flood lots in effect.

Richard Thomas, Forest River property owner, said he appreciates the time that has gone
into this discussion and agrees with the recommendation that hunting not be allowed. He
would like to see the area used by more citizens for nature walks and recreational purposes
other than hunting. Mr. Pawluk said he hopes the neighborhood residents would be open to
allowing hunters with disabilities to use the area on a short-term basis.

19.
