TAX EQUALIZATION BOARD, Convened for 2001/ recessed until June 18
At this time, the Cass County Board of Tax Equalization convened for 2001. Frank Klein,
County Director of Equalization, provided a letter dated May 25, 2001, concerning the annual
equalization of assessments. He estimated that the net taxable valuation in Cass County will
increase 7.3% over last year, from $242.3 million to $260 million.

Mr. Klein said agricultural land valuations have been increased 3.5% over last year, as indicated
by legislative formula. Also, he is recommending that the Board of Equalization raise the
agricultural assessments that received the inundated land classification back to the previous
value before they received the inundated land valuation. All of the affected landowners have
been notified of the increase and advised that they may reapply, based upon the new rules
passed by the State Legislature. Three individuals have applied thus far, and he will prepare
a recommendation for the board's consideration in the near future.

-.

The first order of business is the equalization of cities.

Mrs. Donald Brothers was present concerning an increase in the taxable valuation of her twin
home located at 2457 Madison Square Drive, Fargo, North Dakota. She said the value indicates
an increase of $6,000 more than when she purchased it this spring. Ben Hushka, Fargo City
