<br />Commission Minutes--June 4, 2001 2295 <br /> <br />14. BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS REPORT; COURTROOM REVAMPING DISCUSSED FOR <br />__ FUTURE CONSIDERATION; MEETING UPDATES, Committee reports <br />Bonnie Johnson provided a buildings and grounds update, including upgrading the Courthouse <br />security at the front entrance and new technology installation in the Commission Room. <br /> <br />Commissioners were in agreement that Mrs. Johnson contact the State Court Administrator <br />about the possibility of using the services of an architect from the National Center of State <br />Courts to help explore the option of moving criminal court from the courthouse to the building <br />which will be constructed in place of the current county jail. This idea would eliminate the need <br />to move prisoners through the public spaces in the Courthouse. Mr. Burdick cautioned about <br />having large enough courtrooms for criminal trials, and Mrs. Johnson said the State's Attorney's <br />Office will be actively involved in the discussions when it gets to that point. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wieland reported on a national conference he attended recently. Mrs. Sorum <br />reported on a hearing before Judge Georgia Dawson this Wednesday, June 6th, regarding the <br />proposed Maple River Dam. She encouraged other Commissioners to attend and to write letters <br />to the congressional delegation supporting the Maple River Dam project. <br /> <br />15. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />information from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture on Project Safe Send <br />collection sites; <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Health concerning permit renewal application by <br />Koch Materials Company for their asphalt bulk storage and handling facility in West <br />Fargo; <br />response from North Dakota Supreme Court to Cass County's letter of April 17, 2001, <br />concerning UCIS/PCSS (court software); <br />letter from North Dakota Department ofTransportation seeking comments on the DOT's <br />Transportation Enhancement program; <br />invitation to participate in the Casselton Community Days parade on July 14th. <br /> <br />16.
