TREASURER'S OFFICE, Position change authorized <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to downgrade a B22 <br />position to an A13 position in the Treasurer's Office in accordance <br />with a memorandum from Charlotte Sandvik, County Treasurer, dated <br />August 4, 2000. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8. RESOLUTION #2000-10, Nomination of Sheriff's Deputy. Jim Thoreson. for Excellence in <br />County Government Award <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the <br />following Resolution #2000-10 nominating Jim Thoreson, Cass <br />County Sheriff's Deputy, for the Excellence in County Government <br />Award in the county employee category. On roll call vote, motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #2000-10 <br />WHEREAS, James C. (Jim) Thoreson started his law enforcement career in Cass <br />County in 1971, working at the Cass County Jail. Two years later, he <br />became a patrol officer, before returning to the jail in 1976 as its <br />administrator; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jim Thoreson was named Chief Deputy under Sheriff Don Rudnick in 1979 <br />and continues to serve in that capacity; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jim Thoreson is recognized by his peers as a leader and exhibits <br />exemplary skills in working through difficult, high profile law enforcement <br />cases with both the media and other law enforcement agencies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jim Thoreson has had a remarkable record of law enforcement service with <br />Cass County, spanning nearly three decades. His dedication to excellence <br />on behalf of Cass County Government is second to none. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Board of Commissioners of Cass County, <br />North Dakota, hereby nominate James C. (Jim) Thoreson for County Employee of the <br />Year in 2000. <br /> <br />Dated at Fargo, North Dakota, this 21st day of August, 2000. <br /> <br />9. ASSESSMENT OF OMITTED PROPERTIES, Approved for three properties <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to add part of the <br />SE 1/4 of Section 35, Township 143, Range 51 in Bell Township as <br />omitted property for 2000 in the amount of $25,000 residential <br />structures, according to notice sent from the county auditor to Vinje <br />Brothers LLP, Spokane, Washington. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />
