<br />Commission Minutes-July 17, 2000 2156 <br /> <br />11. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to approve Voucher <br />No. 142,232 through No. 142,704. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />12. JAIL SITE UPDATE; COURTHOUSE/PLAZA PROJECTS; PCSS UPDATE; COUNTY LUNCH <br />COUNTER; CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASS; MOSQUITOIWEED UPDATE, Committee reoorts <br />Mrs. Johnson said weed cutting and tilling are being done at the jail site to assist in drying out <br />the soil. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson reported that carpet cleaning and tile stripping at the Courthouse and Annex will <br />be completed this week. She also discussed the front Courthouse plaza project which is taking <br />longer than expected to complete. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson gave an update on PCSS/UCIS and said an independent contractor was being <br />sought for an analysis of the two systems. Only one contractor from Bismarck applied and a <br />meeting will be held with them soon. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said Luigi's, the contractor operating the county lunch counter, cancelled their <br />contract. She has contacted one restaurant who may be willing to run the operation. She also <br />said an employee currently working for Luigi's may be interested in serving as an independent <br />contractor. She will look into both options and keep the Commission updated. <br /> <br />States Attorney Birch Burdick said he attended government classes at Fargo South High School <br />to help provide information regarding criminal justice. <br /> <br />Mr. Koenig said he attended the Weed and Vector Control meetings this morning. He discussed <br />the mosquito problems and said spraying was completed in numerous cities throughout the <br />county. He said weed spraying has been difficult this season due to the wet weather. <br /> <br />13. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />form letters from numerous Cass County residents opposing the dike/ditch option as a <br />flood control measure and supporting water retention sites; <br /> <br />letter signed by 17 employees of the Cass County Sheriff's Department expressing <br />concerns about the service they are receiving from the Fargo Dispatch Center and <br />favoring a transfer to the West Fargo Dispatch Center for handling the county's calls; <br /> <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Human Services regarding arrearage calculations <br />(copies made for all commissioners). <br />
