<br />Commission Minutes--July 3,2000 2152 <br /> <br />such duties as birth and death certificates, marriage licenses and military discharges may be <br />performed by another county office. Mr. Montplaisir said he is meeting next week with <br />Dorothy Howard, Clerk of Court, and Charlotte Sandvik, County Treasurer, to discuss time <br />involvement, volume of records, and programming needs for the 2001 county budget. In <br />Cass County, he said the Treasurer's Office would be the likely place for the performance <br />of those duties remaining with the county, instead of the Register of Deeds' Office, as in most <br />counties throughout the State. <br /> <br />Mrs. Quick and Mr. Wieland reported that the North Dakota Association of Counties is <br />proceeding with plans to construct their own office building in Bismarck. They already have <br />a tenant to rent one whole floor of the building, and they also have room for expansion. The <br />site is close to the State Capitol and will have ample parking. They hope to finance it with <br />municipal bonds through Burleigh County. Mr. Wieland said no increase in dues is <br />anticipated from member counties for next year. <br /> <br />17. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Quick moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Transportation and memorandum from <br />County Engineer Keith Berndt regarding the temporary closing of the Hill Township <br />interchange on Interstate 94 during the 2001 construction season; <br />Division of Emergency Management appreciation letter for allowing Glenn <br />Ellingsberg, Cass County Disaster Emergency Services Director, to attend the Boys <br />State event again this year; <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Transportation requesting information on <br />damage or impacts to county federal aid routes as a result of the rain storm run-off <br />of June 19-20, 2000; <br />form letter from 48 residences in rural Cass County opposing the dike/ditch option <br />as a flood control measure and supporting water retention sites. <br /> <br />18.
