Commission Minutes--July 3, 2000 2147 DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JULY 3, 2000 1. MEETING TO ORDER Chairman John Meyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as follows: Donna Schneider, Robbie Quick, Alon Wieland, Paul Koenig and John Meyer. 2. MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve minutes of the regular meeting of June 19, 2000, and to approve minutes of the special meeting of June 27, 2000, as written. Motion carried. 3. AGENDA, Order apDroved MOTION, passed Mrs. Quick moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the order of the agenda as printed. Motion carried. 4. RESOLUTION #2000-8, Disaster declaration ratified MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to ratify the following Resolution #2000-8 declaring a disaster due to flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall on June 19 and 20, 2000. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. WHEREAS, Cass County has received considerable damage caused by flooding in certain areas along the Red River, Sheyenne River, Rush River, Maple River and their tributaries; and WHEREAS, the political subdivisions within Cass County have received considerable damage from flash flooding caused by 4% to 7 inches of rainfall within a limited time period; and WHEREAS, damages to public and private property, roads, and agricultural land are estimated in the millions of dollars with further losses anticipated. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 37-17.1-10 of the North Dakota Century Code, I do hereby declare a disaster for all of Cass County. That all applicable emergency operating plans of the county are hereby activated and shall remain in effect until the disaster is concluded. Dated at Fargo, North Dakota, this 21st day of June, 2000.
