At the meeting, a motion was made to enter into discussions with Foss Associates for the purpose of obtaining a proposed contract, schedule and cost estimate for the project. As you know from documents left in your mail boxes, I have had discussions with Foss Associates, and have asked them to prepare a draft contract for review by our state's attorney. I have now received the contract back from Birch Burdick and responses from Foss on the other issues which were raised in our discussion. They are included as a part of your packet. I have also had the opportunity to meet with Commissioner Bennett, who holds the portfolio for the jail, to answer any questions he might have and to make a determination as to whether this issue is ready for discussion at a board meeting. He agreed it was appropriate. I have also talked with Glenn Ellingsberg about the items on today's agenda, and he also believes this matter is ready for board discussion. With that, I offer you the proposed contract, schedule and budget for the project, and if you decide the timing is right to move forward, I would ask you consider the following motion: SUGGESTED MOTION: Move to enter into a contract with Foss Associates for the construction of two additional 48 bed housing pods; appoint County Coordinator, Bonnie Johnson, as the project coordinator, and solicit bids for the work.
