As contributions from federal and state funds continue to be reduced, the county is <br /> responsible to supplement more dollars for the department. <br /> Mr. Ammerman reviewed the Social Services preliminary budget for 2015 and outlined <br /> areas of increase and decrease. He also made multiple recommendations to produce <br /> agency-wide savings through reducing certain line items in the budget. <br /> Mr. Ammerman recommended removing the Contracted Attorney line item as he believes <br /> the resources within the State's Attorney office will be sufficient for the time being. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Scherling seconded to remove the <br /> Contracted Attorney line item for $40,000 from the preliminary <br /> budget for Cass County Social Services. Discussion: Mr. Peterson <br /> asked if there is a fall back plan if independent legal representation <br /> is necessary. Mr. Ammerman said there has been no finalized <br /> decision, but he has informed Mr. Burdick of his intentions. On roll <br /> call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Ammerman recommended reducing the General Office Supplies budget from $25,000 to <br /> $23,000. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Peterson moved and Mrs. Scherling seconded to reduce the <br /> General Office Supplies budget by $2,000 in the preliminary budget <br /> for Cass County Social Services. Cass County has 3,003 approved ACA cases, and 1,922 <br /> which are single program ACA cases. As a result, Mr. Ammerman has structured a unit that <br /> deals solely with ACA cases.
