He said the
budget includes $5,000 for a new check signer, and $382,225 for a new e-poll book system.
Mr. Montplaisir believes the state may budget for poll books for all the precincts in the state
during the next legislative session. Mr. Peterson asked if the county could be retroactively
reimbursed. Mr. Montplaisir said the county has been retroactively reimbursed for scanners
in the past, so there is a history of retroactive reimbursement. Even if the state does not
budget for new poll books there are funds saved during non-election years that would cover
the expenditure.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Peterson moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2015
preliminary budget for the Auditor's Office as presented. Most increases are for employee salaries, benefits, office supplies and postage. The current machine was
purchased in 1992 and is no longer repairable.
