Commission Minutes—August 11, 2014 4338 <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to remove $90,000 from <br /> the remodeling/furniture line item. Discussion: Mrs. Scherling asked <br /> about the items that would be removed from the Sheriffs Office <br /> furniture. Mr. Berndt will meet with the sheriff to determine the <br /> greatest need. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to remove $40,000 for <br /> bathroom upgrades. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Peterson seconded to remove $23,000 for <br /> LED lights in county parking lots. On roll call vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Bennett moved and Mrs. Scherling seconded to remove $60,000 <br /> from the carpeting budget. Discussion: Mr. Peterson suggested the <br /> high traffic common areas be done first and leave the offices for <br /> another time. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Vanyo said $213,000 in cuts were made resulting in a 5% increase in the overall <br /> budget for the Administrator. <br /> 4. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY <br /> Terry Schmaltz, Information Technology (IT) Director, was present and reviewed the major <br /> items for 2015. The budget includes $193,450 for cyclical computer replacements; <br /> $23,850 for a public alert system for emergencies and weather notifications; $16,500 for a <br /> large format GIS plotter; $28,000 for consulting fees to study the use and needs of the <br /> website; $35,000 to redesign the website tax payment system; $30,000 for website content <br /> development and training; $87,080 for software licensing and maintenance; and $74,733 <br /> to replace the existing AS400 system purchased in 2005, which experienced two incidents <br /> of hardware failure this year. He said the overall increase from last year is $139,000 with <br /> $110,850 in requests from other county departments. <br /> MOTION, withdrawn <br /> Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Scherling seconded to remove $28,000 <br /> for consulting fees to study the current website design. Discussion: <br /> Mr. Peterson was going to suggest retaining this item and <br /> eliminating $35,000 for tax payment system redesign and $30,000 for <br /> website content development and training. He suggested the study <br /> could be done and the following year changes could be implemented <br /> based off the findings of the study. The motion was withdrawn by <br /> Mr. Vanyo and Mrs. Scherling. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Peterson seconded to remove $65,000 for <br /> website tax system redesign, content development and training. On <br /> roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />
