CASS COUNTY
GOVERNMENT
RECEIVED
Ma IBM July 24, 2014
JUL 2 5 2014
CASS COUNTY COMMISSION
Board of County Commissioners
Auditor Cass County Government
211 9th Street South
Michael Montplaisir,CPA Fargo ND 58103
701-241-5601
Treasurer RE: Contract approval for OpenGov website service
Charlotte Sandvik
701-241-5611 Dear Commissioners:
Director of We struggle with understanding the budget internally and making that
Equalization information available to the public in an understandable format. The
county prepares the Budget In Brief that is included with tax statements
Frank Klein and distributes the Popular Report on county finances. Also, budgets
701-241-5616 and financial statements are posted on the county website. However,
these static reports are difficult for the lay person to understand. In
looking for solutions, I researched options to provide information to both
internal and external users of our data without changing our basic
accounting systems. In doing that research, I came across the
OpenGov product.
OpenGov was created to enhance the availability and understandability
of government financial data in an intelligent, interactive format for both
internal and external users of the data. It will make budgets easier to
understand and monitor by departments, commissioners, and the
general public. The cost for the contract is $7,000 and will come from
programming dollars budgeted this year.
Sincerely,
Michael Montplaisir, CPA
Cass County Auditor
SUGGESTED MOTION:
Move to authorize the Chairman to sign a contract with OpenGov for
Box 2806 web software.
211 Ninth Street South
Fargo,North Dakota 58103
Fax 701-241-5728
www.casscountynd.gov
