<br />Commission Minutes-August 16, 2004 <br /> <br />2778 <br /> <br />Mr. Burdick said information from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture and the <br />Department of Labor pertaining to issues raised by a former employee and how chemicals <br />were handled is not new; however, they have taken the form of formal complaints. He will <br />meet with the appropriate people and begin to collect the information that is needed so <br />responses can be submitted to each of these two agencies by the deadlines stated. <br /> <br />Mr, Wagner suggested holding an executive session in order for the County Commission to <br />discuss legal issues with the attorney. Mr. Burdick said he would favor holding executive <br />sessions periodically and some commissioners were in agreement; however, Mr. Bennett <br />said he believes they should be held on rare occasions and only as needed. Mrs. Sorum <br />asked Mr. Burdick to contact the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund on possible <br />involvement in these two complaints and to inform the board about an executive session. <br /> <br />17. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Agriculture acknowledging receipt of a letter <br />from Commission Chair Robyn Sorum regarding pesticide handling and applications <br />in Cass County's weed and vector control programs; <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Labor regarding a complaint filed by <br />Kristi Biewer, former weed/vector control director; <br />copy of a letter from the City of Fargo to John and Mary Swartz regarding flood map <br />revision on their property; <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Health requesting comments on a proposal <br />for a transfer station facility for infectious waste at 4235 Main Avenue; <br />letter from North Dakota Emergency Management regarding de-obligation of $5,200 <br />in FY2004 Emergency Management Performance Grant funds; <br />State Audit Report for the year ended December 31, 2003. <br /> <br />18.
