RECEIVED
January 14, 2014 JAN 1 n. 2014
TO: Cass County Commission CASS COUNTY COMMISSION
FROM: Chip Ammerman
RE: County Employee request for extension on use of Annual Leave.
Pam Ormand, Assistant States Attorney assigned in Social Services has made a request to extend the
time limit of January 15th to use accumulated hours beyond the maximum of 240 hours. This request is
due to the influx of cases that this legal department has seen since October of 2013 limiting her ability
to use this time. Ms. Ormand has 28 hours of accumulated annual leave beyond the 240 hours
maximum as of January 15, 2014. Ms. Ormand has identified her intent to use the 4 hours on January
24, 2014, and 24 hours between the dates of February 26-28, 2014.
It is my opinion that her inability to use her annual leave was due to the emergency need of this agency
to meet the demands of the mandated responsibilities, and Ms. Ormand has not requested to extend
her use of annual leave in the past. Her use of leave as outlined in her plan will not create a burden for
this agency.
SUGGESTED MOTION:
Move to approve the request from Pam Ormand to extend the use of her annual leave beyond January,
15, 2014 to be used on the dates of January 24, February 26, 27 and 28, 2014, based on the exception
allowed under Personnel Policy Section 6.00.
