CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS EL ZAGAL'S ESCORT MOTOR PATROL <br /> REVISED 12/12/2009 <br /> ARTICLE I <br /> Name <br /> Section 1. The name of the organization shall be"EL ZAGAL ESCORT MOTOR PATROL", <br /> and it shall at all times conform to the code and bylaws of the Imperial Shrine Council <br /> and El Zagal Temple, and shall be at all times under jurisdiction and authority of the <br /> Illustrious Potentate. <br /> ARTICLE II <br /> Object <br /> Section 1. The purpose of this organization shall be for formation of an all-motorized <br /> unit for parade work, escort services for Shrine functions, and any other services wished <br /> performed by the Illustrious Potentate for El Zagal Temple in accordance with the best <br /> interests of the organization as deemed by the unit. <br /> ARTICLE III <br /> Membership <br /> Section 1. The membership shall consist of dues paying voting members, honorary <br /> members, and life members. <br /> Section 2. Membership: Any Noble of the El Zagal Temple in good standing may petition <br /> for membership of the Escort Motor Patrol. All petitions for membership shall be filed <br /> with the Secretary and be accompanied by one year's dues plus $150.00 initiation fee. <br /> Petitions shall be presented at an authorized unit meeting. The membership will vote on <br /> the individual at the meeting. The applicant automatically bears the endorsement of the <br /> entire unit after 1 reading. <br /> Each individual is fully responsible for purchasing his tux, when purchased the <br /> unit will provide a unit wind shirt. The unit will pay for lettering the individual's Fez and <br /> provide a unit shirt and cap. <br /> Section 3. Honorary members: Honorary membership in El Zagal's Escort Motor Patrol <br /> may be conferred upon any Noble of the Mystic Shrine for distinguished service to the <br /> unit upon a majority vote of the membership. Honorary members are non-dues paying, <br /> non-voting members. <br /> Section 4. Life members: Life membership may be requested by any unit member upon <br /> reaching 20 or more years of continuous membership in good standing in the unit. A <br /> life member shall be a non-dues paying member but will retain all rights and privileges <br /> granted to dues paying members. Any unit member who is a past potentate of El Zagal <br /> Temple may request and be granted life membership. <br /> Section 5. Any member who, in the majority opinion of the Executive Committee, has <br /> lost interest in the organization's work or conducts himself in a manner injurious or <br /> discrediting to the organization may be suspended, expelled, or otherwise disciplined by <br /> a simple majority vote of the unit at a legally convened meeting of the unit. <br />
