GREATER <br /> FargoMoorhead <br /> Economic Development Corporation <br /> • Held marketing committee meeting. Discussed GFMEDC marketing initiatives and also discussed next <br /> steps. At the following meeting, members discussed various ideas to market the Fargo Moorhead <br /> region. The group will move forward with one idea. <br /> • Jim Gartin gave presentation to the Fargo Rotary Club and a Kiwanis Club. <br /> • Assisted FMWF Chamber in developing programming for visit from Greater Topeka Chamber of <br /> Commerce guests. <br /> • Participated in a consultant interview for the YMCA. <br /> • Participated in a consultant interview regarding convention center. <br /> • Met with Mike Williams, Fargo City Commissioner regarding a community video project. <br /> • Jim Gartin gave presentation at the Home Builders' Association Annual Meeting. <br /> • Provided a presentation on social media strategies during the EDND conference in Jamestown. <br /> • Met with seven Representatives and one Senator from the North Dakota State Legislature. <br /> • Invited to discuss GFMEDC marketing efforts during the ND Department of Commerce Economic <br /> Development roundtable discussion. <br /> • Mark Vaux participated in an economic development panel for The Chamber's Young Professionals <br /> Network. <br /> • Attended announcement for Midcontinent Communications expansion into Fargo. <br /> Objective 8: Use the Growth Initiative Fund to further the region's economic development strategy <br /> • Approved three PACE loans <br /> • Approved five Flex PACE loans <br /> • Communications with companies and lenders regarding information and documentation on new and <br /> existing PACE loans. <br /> • Communicated with the Bank of North Dakota to discuss primary sector and targeted industries. <br /> • Held a meeting with several local financial contacts to discuss and gather input on utilization of GIF <br /> program funds. <br /> • Thus far in 2013, $460,000 in GIF Funds have been approved for eight loans as a part of$21 million in <br /> capital investments and the creation of 138 new jobs. <br /> Objective 9: Influence state economic development policy <br /> • Participated in the Diversion Project Legislative Open House at the capitol in Bismarck. <br /> • Attended North Dakota Legislative Wrap Up Event. <br /> • Attended Minnesota Legislative Wrap Up Event. <br /> • Participated in conference call regarding immigration reform discussion. <br /> • Participated in Immigration Roundtable Discussion with Senator Heidi Heitkamp. <br /> • Met with members of ND Economic Development Foundation advisory board to discuss COE strategic <br /> plan. <br /> • Worked with SBA to identify/arrange for meetings with local companies to discuss Affordable Care Act. <br /> • Participated in a local Chamber meeting to discuss and direct their legislative plan of work for the 2014 <br /> MN session. Participated in a ND State Chamber meeting to discuss their legislative plan. <br /> • Attended EDND bi-annual conferences. <br /> • Participated in EDND strategic planning retreat. <br /> • Mark Vaux accepted a position on the EDND Board of Directors, attends EDND board meetings. <br /> • Attended ND Legislative interim tax committee hearing. <br /> • Attended Department of Commerce Economic Development roundtable discussion. <br /> • Met with NDSU registrar and admissions director to discuss retention rates. <br />
