ire Ul CASS COUNTY PERSONNEL POLICY MANUAL 2.70 SUBJECT: MICROCOMPUTER /MINICOMPUTER POLICIES AND USAGE EFFECTIVE DATE: March 7, 1994 PAGE 1 OF 3 MICROCOMPUTER /MINICOMPUTER POLICIES Microcomputers, minicomputers and peripheral equipment acquired by Cass County will only be used for: office administration; training; and other professional activities related to the above. Only employees of Cass County are authorized, after completing a training session, to use this hardware. MICROCOMPUTER AND MINICOMPUTER SOFTWARE USAGE Cass County has acquired the right to use several proprietary software packages. A license agreement governs the use of the software. People who use the proprietary software should be aware of the agreements between the vendor and Cass County. Each person using proprietary software purchased by Cass County is responsible for protection against any violation of the software license agreements. Typically, the agreement states the uses which are NOT permitted, such as: making copies of the user's manual; making copies of the system diskettes, unless specifically told to do so in the documentation; making alterations to the software source code; or providing use of the software in a multiple CPU or user arrangement to users who are not individually licensed. Violation of any part of these agreements may create legal and financial liabilities for Cass County and the responsible individual(s). The following conditions govern the use and care of microcomputer and minicomputer hardware and software assigned to Cass County staff: The hardware and software will only be used for the benefit of Cass County. The improper reproduction of proprietary software by any means is prohibited.
