SUBJECT: EMPLOYEE E -MAIL USAGE POLICY 3.40 <br /> PAGE 2 OF 2 <br /> 7. Inappropriate e-mail messages can give rise to claims of <br /> discrimination, harassment, defamation, and copyright infringement. <br /> Under no circumstances shall any employee use the e -mail system for <br /> messages that are or could reasonably be considered offensive to <br /> another on the basis of race, sex, age, sexual orientation, <br /> religious or political beliefs, national origin, or disability. <br /> 8. Solicitation of funds, political messages and harassing e -mail are <br /> prohibited. <br /> 9. Use of Cass County's e -mail system for personal business (profit or <br /> non profit organizations of any kind) is prohibited. <br /> 10. Cass County may access e-mail messages within the county e -mail <br /> system of all individuals covered by this policy for any purpose not <br /> specifically prohibited by law. If practicable, the employee will <br /> be notified in advance of such access. Where advance notice is not <br /> practical, the employee will receive notice within a reasonable time <br /> thereafter of the date of the access, the purpose of the access, and <br /> the identity of the person(s) who accessed the information, and the <br /> information obtained. <br /> 11. Upon written request by the Cass County Commission or an employee's <br /> Department Head the contents of e -mail sent by, between and /or to <br /> individuals covered by this policy may be disclosed within or <br /> outside Cass County without the permission of the individual at any <br /> time deemed necessary by Cass County and for any purpose not <br /> specifically prohibited by law. <br /> I, the undersigned, acknowledge receipt of Cass County's e -mail policy <br /> and consent to work under the conditions set forth in the policy. I <br /> understand that I have no reasonable expectation to privacy in e -mail <br /> communications using Cass County's system, and I consent to the <br /> monitoring of such communications pursuant to the policy.
