Comm. Minutes--January 25, 1990 418 SPECIAL MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JANUARY 25, 1990, 8:00 A.M. MEETING TO ORDER Chairman Gene Shannon called the meeting to order with all members present as follows: Oscar Sondrall, Alon Wieland, Don Eckert, Sharon "Pepper" Toussaint, and Gene Shannon. SOCIAL SERVICES, Community Survival Program Mr. Shannon said this special meeting was called for the purpose of considering the Community Survival Program· Mrs. Toussaint said she met with Social Services Director Tom Jensen, Accountant Jerry Skjonsby, and Jim Berglie, Administrator of the Community Survival Program, who were all present at this time. MOT£ON, passed Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to continue the Community Survival Program under the County for 1990 and to retain the salaries of the employees at their current salary schedule as was scheduled for 1989; also to request a written notice 30 days in advance of any possible need for county funds and/or a quarterly financial report to be delivered to the Chairman of the Social Services Board, as it is the intention that Community Survival will not be funded in any way by the County; and at the same time, the financial report is submitted, a written progress report regarding the future of Community Survival going private· Discussion: Mrs. Toussaint said retaining the 1989 salary schedule will reduce the Community Survival Program budget by approximately $30,000. Mr. Shannon asked if Mr. Berglie is continuing to explore avenues for private funding, and Mr. Berglie said a committee has started working on this and he will keep the Commission updated. He said he is agreeable with the motion as stated by Mrs. Toussaint. At the call for the question and upon roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. ADJOURN MOTION, passed On motion by Mr. Wieland and seconded by Mrs. Toussaint, the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
