58 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />MAY 3, i988 <br /> <br /> Chairman Don Eokert called the meeting to order with all members <br />present as follows: Jeannette Stanton, Oscar Sondrali, Alon Wieland, <br />Ray Larson and Don Eokert. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as corrected, with the inclusion <br />that the 2nd year cost on the contract with Peterson Mechanical may <br />be increased by 5~ over the first year. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> After a meeting between representatives from the City of Fargo <br />and the County Commission, it was the consensus that it is not <br />economically or physically feasible at this time to combine the <br />Director of Tax Equalization position and the Oity Assessor. <br />Regarding applications for replacement of Clarence Miller, who is <br />retiring, each Oommissioner was requested to review the applications <br />by next Tuesday and try to select 6-10 people for possible <br />interviews. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mr. Sondrall that <br />Commissioners Wieland and Sondrall review the property to the south <br />of the Courthouse, which is for sale, and bring an option proposal to <br />the next meeting. After discussion and at the caii for the question, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards, <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded to authorize payment of <br />City Pothole and Street Repair Funds to the City of Reiles Acres in <br />the amount of $462.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the County <br />Engineer request the repair of a railroad crossing on County Road 10 <br />north of Riverside, ND. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jerry Sheldon appeared before the Board regarding a request <br />from a delegation some time ago for paving County Road 51 from County <br />Road 20 north four miles. He stated that he understands there is a <br />possibility that only the south two miles of this stretch will be <br />paved. Mr. Wieland stated that the south 2 miles is scheduled for <br />grading in 1988, and beyond the two miles would not be a high <br />priority on the proposed road program. The County Engineer stated <br />that the south two miles does carry a higher amount of traffic and he <br />indicated that with the amount of funding available, he did not <br />believe the County could do the entire four miles. <br /> <br /> Brian Shorten, Executive Director of the Fargo-Moorhead <br />Metropolitan Council of Governments, was present to report that the <br />Policy Board approved a distribution of reserve funds back to local <br />governments in the same ratio as they were contributed. Mr. Wieland <br />moved and Mr. Larson seconded to accept the generosity of the Council <br />of Governments in returning $10,625.00 to Cass County to be placed in <br />the Promotional Advertising Fund, and to send a letter of <br />commendation.
