Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County Road Superintendent 2 overhead doors !be authorized to install two more overhead doors at the County Shop.' On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. I Rd. Supt. to pur, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the County Road Superintendent chase 2 mowers Ibe authorized to purchase two rotary mowers for the Road Department. Corres. on bridgJ A letter was referred to the Road Superintendent concerning the County's participation inspections i in bridge inspections on off-system roads to be conducted in 1982. i i Discussion was again held on the bridge replacement between Sections 9-16, Pleasant I Township, which was approved by the Board on April 20, 1982. Mr. Bob Muscha from the I Houston Engineering Company who did the hydraulics study on the project was present. :Also present was Mrs. Robert Cossette and her Attorney Shelley Lashkowitz. I , Cass Co. Mr. Muscha informed the Commission that the culvert which is replacing the bridge not help the flooding problem which the Cossette's have, but it will make the road for transportation. I I will i safe I i Attorney Lashkowitz stated that it is his opinion that the one culvert will impede : the flow of water and cause more flooding on the Cossettes. Houston Engineering maintains that the Cossettes' farm buildings become flooded as soon as the water goes over the road anyway. Mrs. Wold stated that the County is not talking about solving water problems but is trying to make a safe crossing. Mr. Larry Richard, who lives in the area, addressed the Commission and stated that he is in the process of building an earth dike around his buildings which he feels is the only way to protect his property in times of high water. Mrs. Robert Cossette stated that the township h~s discussed raising the level of the road which would create more water problems for them. Mr. Jerome Nipstad from the Pleasant TQwnship Board of Supervisors was present, and stated that the township has no plans to raise this road. However, Attorney Lashkowitz rebutted that there will be a I different Township Board 5 years from now. Mrs. Wold stated that at such time that the , township would desire to build up the road, she felt the County should be informed and included in discussions at that time. There being no further discussion, the Board's motion of April 20, 1982, stands to replace the bridge with one 7'7" by 11'10" culvert as recommended by the engineers for the project. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the Sheriff's Department be authorized to advertise for the sale of used patrol cars which have been stored at the Road Department Shop. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Deborah Korsmo, County Superintendent of Schools, presented three names for appointment to the Cass County School Reorganization Committee, the membership of which is being changed due to the redistricting plan adopted on November 24, 1981, for Cass County Commissioners to be elected by districts. Mrs. Korsmo stated that three of the present School Reorganization Committee members must be replaced by people from unrepresented districts. The three members leaving are Ralph Cameron, H. G. Poulson and James E. Lee. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded to confirm the appoitments made by the Superintendent of Schools for R.D. Brown to serve from District #2 for a term ending December 31, 1982; Shirley Sinclair to serve from District #3 for a term ending December 31, 1982; and Joan MacDonald to serve from District #1 for a term ending December 31, 1983, on the Cass County School Reorganization Committee. On roll call vote, the motion carried with Mr. Eckert opposing. Discussion was held with the Superintendent of Schools on office hours and personnel in her department. Mrs. Wold suggested discussing personnel matters at budget time.
