<br /> <br /> <br />59:16 <br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />Convene as Co. <br />Board of Tax <br />Equalization <br /> <br />.K.~~.~>"!..~~~~~'~~~O' ;!";;'_':Io.~_...:.. ~._:Z?6!l,I,!,1. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />JUNE 3, 1980 <br /> <br />Chairman Stanton called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members <br />'were present. <br />I <br />I An Invocation was given by the Chairman. <br />I <br />} Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mr. Satrom seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting <br />!be approved. Motion carried. <br />! <br /> <br />The Board convened as the County Board of Tax Equalization. Clarence Miller, County <br />Director of Tax Equalization, stated that he would not be recommending any changes for this <br />year. However, he stated that some inequities do exist throughout the County but he hopes <br />to correct some of them when the local assessors become certified. <br /> <br />Mr. Floyd Buerkley, Fargo City Assessor, was present. Communication was received <br />from General Nutrition Mills, Inc. in Goldberg's Addition to the City of Fargo, and <br />Mr. Buerkley stated that the City has made some adjustment on their assessment <br />and they have requested a period of 10 days to determine whether they will accept <br />the City's compromise. Upon the recommendation of Mr. Miller, Mr. Satrom moved and <br />Mrs. Wold seconded that General Nutrition Mills, Inc. be notified that they may appear <br />before the County Board of Tax Equalization on Wednesday, June 11, 1980, to state their case. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />A delegation from the City of Frontier appeared with a petition signed by 17 <br />homeowners requesting that a reassessment of the City of Frontier be made for the year 1980. <br />Mr. Miller stated that a reassessment would cost about $2,500 and it is difficult to get <br />a qualified assessor to do the job. Charles Townsend, City Alderman, stated that perhaps <br />the residents would be satisfied to have Mr. Miller attend a city meeting and discuss <br />some of the factors used in assessing properties. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Wold <br />seconded that the petition from the City of Frontier be received, filed and referred <br />,to Mr. Miller for further study. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Satrom seconded that the County Board of Tax Equalization <br />ibe recessed until Wednesday, June lIth, at 9:30 A.M. On roll call vote, the motion <br />icarried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Chairman called the meeting back to order as the regular County Board meeting. <br /> <br />Out of State , Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that Gordon Sletmoe, Disaster Emergency <br />travel granted IServices Director, be authorized to attend a regional conference in Denver on June 22nd <br />to DES Director lthrough June 25th. On roll call vote, the motion ca~rieQ unanimously. <br /> <br />Fuel Asst. prog.' Discussion was held on the administration of the Fuel Assistance Program, in which <br />to be adminis- IMr. Sletmoe was involved during the past heating season. Mr. Sondrall stated that <br />tered by County Ithe Federal Government has now placed this program under the authority of the <br />Social Servo ISocial Services offices throughout the United States. <br />I <br />i <br /> <br />Gambling Permit Mr. Satrom moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Board approve the Application <br />issued to W.Fgo. ifor a Gambling Permit for the West Fargo Jaycees to have pulltabs in the Beer Gardens <br />Jaycees lat the Red River Valley Fairgrounds during the week of July 7th through 12th, 1980. <br />IOn roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />! <br /> <br />Metro Council <br />A-95 Review for <br />CAA <br /> <br />Petitions for <br />annexation to <br />Horace Rural <br />Fire District <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the Board grant a "Favorable Review" <br />ion the Metropolitan Council of Governments A-95 Review for the Community Action Agency's <br />icommunity demonstration of solar water heaters. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />I unanimously. _ <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Board receive and file <br />Ithe petitions submitted by the landowners in the City of Prairie Rose and the west one-half <br />;of Section 35, Barnes Township, for annexation to the Horace Rural Fire Protection District; <br />land that the County Board set the date of June 25, 1980, for a hearing to be held at <br />IIO:30 A.M. before the County Board of Commissioners on the proposed annexation. <br />iOn roll call vote, the motion carried unanimouSly. <br />, <br /> <br />NDACo. meeting, Correspondence was read, and the Board discussed resolutions to be submitted prior to <br />in Bismarck disc.ithe North Dakota Association of Counties annual meeting on July 24th and 25th in Bismarck. <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Wold and seconded by Mr. Satrom, the meeting was adjourned. <br />
