H ';---::-i2SIH'I._.:- <br /> <br />ADJOURNED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 14, 1979 <br /> <br />Chairman Satrom called the meeting to order ~nd four members were present, <br />Mr. Hendrickson being absent. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting <br />be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />St. Hwy. Dept. <br />agreement for <br />install. of <br />advance warnings <br />on Amtrak Route <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the <br />agreement with the State Highway Department for the installation of advance warning signs <br />on roads crossing the Amtrak Route, at a cost of 10% to the County or $2,812.00. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />A delegation from the Woods Farmer's Elevator and from Leonard Township appeared before <br />the Board to request the County to provide a blacktopped road to the Woods Elevator. <br />They requested about 6~ miles of paving on both County Road 36 and County Road 9. <br />The County Road Superintendent stated that the 5-year road construction program includes <br />reshaping and grading the 3 miles of County Road 36 from County Road 9 to State Highway 18 <br />in 1979, and blacktopping it the following summer. Mr. Hubert Blegen requested that <br />County Road 9 be paved as soon as possible also and that the one-half mile of township road <br />leading up to the elevator be tied in with the project. The Commissioners decided to meet <br />at the County Road Department at 1:00 P..M. next Wednesday to reassess the 5-year <br />i construction program. <br />i <br />Federal funds for! The County Auditor reported on a letter from the State Highway Department concerning <br />Safer Off-System I a new Federal requirement whereby 50% of the Federal funds for Safer Off-System Highways <br />Highways !must be spent for safety projects. <br /> <br />Request for <br />blacktopping on <br />C36 and also C9 <br />to the Woods <br />Farmers Elevator <br /> <br />St. Hwy. sends.
