These computers need to be installed after the office furniture is
installed (apprommately June 15 ) and before full trmmng begins tn the facility
(approximately July 1). With the current staffing level of the Information Services
Department, we have looked at an alternative way of getting this service done in a
timely manner.

At my request, the North Dakota Association of Counties put together a proposal for
installing the computers at the new jail. The proposal you have in front of you is to
set up, install programs, and do the necessary quality checks to make sure everything
works as planned. The Association would dedicate the number of staff needed to
complete the tasks within the required time period. County personnel would prepare
and install the server equipment needed at the jail.

The second part of their proposal is for ongoing support through the end of 2002 for
the Informational Services Department. Again, this is a request I made of the
Association because I believe, whether we hire a new Information Services Director
or not, that we are in need of some technical services in trouble-shooting problems
and assisting our staff in correcting some of the computer and network problems.

Michael Montpl~si~, UP2
County Auditor

SUGGESTIONS MOTIONS:
Move to authorize the Chairman to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the
North Dakota Association of Counties to install the computers in the new jail
facility, with the funding to come from the Jail Construction Fund.

Move to authorize the Chairman to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the
North Dakota Association of Counties to provide 10 hours of technical support
weekly for the period of June 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002 at a cost of $53
per hour, with the costs to come from the consulting line item in the Information
Services budget.
