Commission Minutes—August 15, 2012 4045 Mr. Burdick has a committee of his staff researching options for his office to go paperless. The preliminary 2013 budget reflects a 2% increase to the Coroner's budget as requested by the coroner. He has budgeted for a new copier for 2013 and plans to use asset forfeiture funds for a copier this year. MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve 2013 preliminary budget for the State's Attorney Office as presented. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The commission took a break at 11:00 AM and reconvened at 11 :15 AM. 7. RED RIVER VALLEY FAIR ASSOCIATION Bryan Schulz, General Manager and Jody Buresch, Assistant Manager of the Red River Valley Fair Association were present. Mr. Schulz provided a brief update on the Red River Valley Fair, which was held July 10-15, 2012. He said attendance was up and their organization made a profit this year. They are requesting $100,000 for 2013 compared to $75,000 approved last year. He said they have increased their camp sites at the fairground by 8 spots due to increased interest and use. MOTION, passed Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve $85,000 for the Red River Valley Fair Association for 2013. On roll call vote, the motion carried with Mr. Pawluk, Mr. Bennett, Mr. Vanyo and Mr. Wagner voting in favor. Opposed: Mrs. Sorum. 8. FIRST LINK Sheila Borgerding from First Link was present, representing Cindy Miller, Director of First Link. Their organization is requesting $5,000 for 2013, the same as last year. First Link assists the county with volunteer coordination during emergencies and has a total budget of over $600,000. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2013 preliminary budget for First Link in the amount of $5,000. Discussion: Mr. Wagner thanked First Link for their work in the community. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 9. AUDITOR Auditor Mike Montplaisir presented the 2013 preliminary budget for the Auditor's Office. He said the proposed budget is a bit lower as 2013 is not an election year, however; there may be elections that come up. The budget for training and travel is necessary for continuing education, but the largest line item increase is for software, which includes the property tax software which will allow increased efficiency in sending tax statements. MOTION, passed Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2013 preliminary budget for the Auditor's Office. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
