The existing plotter was originally purchased in October 1995 and used by the Highway Department until May 2002 at which time it was transferred to the Courthouse for use by the Sheriffs Department. Since that time the plotter has been used extensively by the GIS and Auditors department more in the last year for the production of large format color maps and drawings, and has had several problems over the last six months where repairs were required. Now the plotter will not feed paper correctly and will need to be repaired again. I had planned to budget a replacement for the plotter in 2005, but a promotion by our vendor is offering a $2500 trade-in for our existing plotter with the purchase of a new model, which expires July 31, 2004. Purchasing a replacement plotter in 2005 we would not receive the trade-in option. The final price ofthe plotter will be $6550.00 after we receive the rebate. Funds are available for the purchase under the existing 2004 budget due to cost savings on aerial photography project and other expected GIS consulting for 2004.
