Representative Carol A. Niemeier
District 20
Route 2, Box 21
Buxton, ND 58218-9266
cniemeie @state.nd.us

NORTH DAKOTA HOUSE

STATE CAPITOL
600 EAST BOULEVARD
BISMARCK, ND 58505-0360

COMMrl-rEE$:
Human Services
Political Su~ivisions

October 31, 2003

Mr. John Meyer
P O Box 2806
Fargo, ND 58108

Dear Conunissioner Meyer,

Barbara Dalburg of Page has called to my attention the situation in clearing her
driveway during the winter, and I know you have spo ~ken with her. Of course,
this would be outside of the usual practice for the cotmty snowplows, but I'm
asking that some extra consideration be granted to MiSs Dalburg considering her
disability and veteran status. To drive the plow back ~o Tower City and return to
provide the service see~ns unreasonable and an unnecessary cost of time, effort and
dollars for all concerned. Surely the Commission has Me authority to make
a qualifying exemption.

We all see the increasing need for elderly services and the challenges in meeting
these den]ands. I work with Human Services in the L~gislature emd am all too
familiar with the budget crunch and the changes in delivery, providers, etc. Still,
these citizens made our state what it is, including the ~omforts we enjoy, and
making their later years easier remains our obligation. '~

Thank you for the important work you do for the peoPle of Cass County in making
that area the envy of many in the Midwest.

Sincerely yours,

Carol A. Niemeier
