Since then. thousands of people have brought in over half a million pounds of
pesticides. That's a lot. But with the support of pesticide manufacturers, we have the fund
help get rid of more. We can accept any pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides
fungicides) that are old, unusable or banned--like DOT, arsenic, dieldrin, chlordane or met
seed treatments.

A healthy environment is something we take for granted. But
keeping our air and water clean and pure requires commitment
and can be costly.

For years, farmers and ranchers have done their part by safely
storing unusable pesticides like DDT and mercury seed
treatments.

Now there's a way to get rid of these old pesticides for good. /t's
called Project Safe Send.

IT'S...

. SAFE
. SIMPLE
. NON-REGULATORY
. FREE!

Collections are held at many locations across the state in the summer. These çpl!øction
sites rotate throughout the state to provide access to a greater number of farmers and
ranchers. After the collections, hazardous pesticides are carefully packed and shipped ou
state for incineration.

"As a farmer, I know how often we end up with left over or unusable
pesticides. Project Safe Send gives us all an opportunity to easityand
safely dispose of these products at no cost!"

-- Agriculture Commissic
Roger John

Please check your storage areas for any unusable pesticides. If you find some, call us toll
for information on the time and location of the next Project Safe Send collections. Pre-
registration is not required, but it helps us select and plan collections. It also allows us to
arrange a convenient drop-off time and location for you.

In the meantime, keep pesticides safely locked up. If you have deteriorating or leaki
containers, overpack them in larger containers and add absorbent materials.

http://www.agdepartment.comlProgramslPlant/PSS.html

4/23/2004
