Vanyo -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WestFargo, North Dakota RobynSorum Veteran's Service Officer Jim Brent retired on April 9, 2009, with Cass Horace, North Dakota County Government. The commission will review applications submitted for the position and hold interviews next month. During this transitional period, I recommend an acting director be appointed to oversee the Veteran's Service Office. As portfolio commissioner, my philosophy is to appoint someone who is not a candidate for the position. Chanelle Lende and Mike Vandrovec currently serve as Veteran's Service Representatives in the office. Both are outstanding and exceptionally competent representatives. Ms. Lende applied for the position, white Mr. Vandrovec did not apply. Also, according to Personnel Policy 7.20 Acting Pay, when an employee is temporarily assigned to a classification with a higher pay range for more than four consecutive normal work weeks, the employee will be paid at the entry or minimum level of the higher classification or 5% above current salary, whichever is greater. SUGGESTED MOTION: Move to appoint Mike Vandrovec as acting director of the Veteran's Service Office effective April 10, 2009; and approve acting pay for HeatherWorden Mike Vandrovec, according to Cass County Personnel Policy 7.20.
