This grant is offered through the COPS office of the U.S. Department of Justice for a three year period and requires no local match. Our office would like to apply for up to three deputy positions through this grant program. The salary and benefits over a three year period for three deputies is approximately half a million dollars ($511,782). At the conclusion of the three (3) year grant period, Cass County is obligated to maintain funding for those positions for a minimum of one (1) year beyond the grant period. I would ask that our office be allowed to make application for these funds. If we do receive a Grant Award, the commission can then decide if they wish to continue with the grant process. I would ask that this be placed on your regular consent agenda for Monday Apri16, 2009. Sample Motions: Move to approve the electronic application for the 2009 COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) on behalf of Cass County. Authorize Glenn Ellingsberg, Sheriff's Office to act as our Authorized Organization Representative (AOR) and to file any electronic f lings which may be required for the grant application and during the grant period on our behalf.
