FROM: ~.;~'~< Keith Berndt, County Engineer<:'A~ DATE: January 7, 2009 SUBJECT: Consent agenda topic for January 20, 2009 Commission Meeting: In 2008 we were awarded a Department of Homeland Security grant to purchase interoperable radios and related equipment for our vehicles. In order to secure the grant, Cass County pledged a 20% match of the total cost. The 2009 budget included the match. I am requesting that the Commission authorize the Chairperson to sign purchase orders for Motorola for the equipment, and Midstates Wireless for the installation, programming, and accessories. Upon purchase of the system, we will receive reimbursement for 80% from the Department of Emergency Services. The breakdown is as follows: Motorola. Midstates Wireless $94,213.04 $49,132.00 Total $143,345.04 DHS Grant County Match $114,676.03 $28,669.01 SUGGESTED MOTION: AUTHORIZE CHAIRPERSON TO APPROVE A PURCHASE ORDER TO MOTOROLA IN THE AMOUNT OF $94,213.04, AND A PURCHASE ORDER TO MID STATES WIRELESS IN THE AMOUNT OF $49,132.00, FOR THE PURCHASE OF INTEROPERABLE RADIO SYSTEM.
