On 34th Street South from Main Avenue to a point located 879' south of 4th Avenue South. In conjunction with this asphalt wearing course, the Street Department will be mudjacking the curb and gutter sections to alleviate major drainage problems, and the contractor will be repairing any broken street sections. This wear course installation will provide a better riding and draining street section. The construction costs are estimated at $290,730.00 and will be funded by special assessments. The estimated assessed cost for properties fronting on these streets is approximately $25.17 /front foot. A typical lot with 200 foot frontage would be assessed a total of $5,034.00. Special assessments will be spread over a twenty-five year time frame. For this particular amount, the payments would be approximately $412.70 per year including interest. You may view the estimated special assessment for individual properties on the City's website at www.citvoffarao.com/oarcels. The assessment district for this project is being published in the legal section of the Forum on March 3 and 10, 2008 for your review. Bids for this work are scheduled to be opened April 2, 2008, with completion of the wear course scheduled for August 1, 2008. Our records indicate that your property is in the assessment district and will be assessed for a portion of the project costs. The legal deadline for expressing your concerns or objections about this project is April 1, 2008. Protests must be in writing and should be sent to the City Auditor's Office.
