<br />Board of County Commissioners <br />Page 2 <br />August 18, 2008 <br /> <br />Property Taxes: <br />As mentioned earlier, the county mill levy for the General Fund and Special <br />Revenue Funds is budgeted to remain at the 61 mills levied for the 2008 taxes. <br />Reserves for most funds will be adequate with about 8% for the General Fund <br />and 13.5% for Human Services, County Highway reserves will only be about <br />3% but we are better able to manage the expenses in that department by <br />delaying projects. Total mill levies on rural properties will go down some <br />bec.ause the Weed Board reduced their mill levy by .35 mills and properties <br />within the Southeast Cass Water Resource District will see a .20 mill <br />reduction. <br /> <br />The next step in the budget process is to approve the preliminary budget, <br />publish a summary of the budget in our official newspaper, The Forum, and <br />hold a public hearing where interested parties can comment or suggest changes <br />to the 2009 budget. <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />~~./'./f;e( ~_. <br />Michael M~pGisir, C A <br />County Auditor <br /> <br />SU22ested Motion: <br />Move to approve the 2009 preliminary county budget in the amount of <br />$53,534,737 and set the preliminary mill levy at 61.00 mills for county funds <br />and 19.90 for agency funds; and set 3:30 p.m. on September 15, 2008, in the <br />Commission Room, Cass County Courthouse, as the time and place for the <br />public hearing on the 2009 preliminary budget. <br />
