As you are aware,
the system as installed wasn't effective in the central corridor of the county. Further
analysis recommended two additional transmit sites to correct the problem. Our
office just received the award of a federal grant to fund the cost of the upgrade. The
project totals are:

Total cost:
Grant (80%):
Local match (20%):

$46,416.14
37,132.90
9,283.24

The 20% local match would come from the Cass County Hazardous Plan/Response
account funded through the county's share of the state hazardous chemical
registration fee. This fund is intended broadly to assist in hazardous chemical
preparedness and response. The Cass County Local Emergency Planning Committee
(LEPC) voted to authorize the use of these funds for the grant match.

Dave Rogness
Emergency Management Coordinator

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to make a budget adjustment for $9,283.24 from
account 101-3701-427.74-12 for the local match. I also move to transfer $9,283.24
from Hazardous Planning fund 236-3503-421.99-01 to the general fund 101-1001-
391.99-01.
