Discussion: Mr. Bennett and Mr. Vanyo said they have received compliments from the public about the director and her staff. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 7. PLANNING DEPARTMENT Mr. Berndt said the 2009 preliminary budget is $75,003 compared to $75,831 in 2008. Mr. Pawluk asked about $2,500 for travel and per diem and noted only $1,529 out of the $2,500 budgeted for this year has been spent. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to remove $1,000 from the travel line item for the Planning Department. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. LAKE AGASSIZ REGIONAL COUNCIL Irv Rustad, Director of Lake Agassiz Regional Council, was present. He stated they are requesting $15,000 for 2009, the same as last year. MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2009 preliminary budget for the Lake Agassiz Regional Council. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. 9. FARGO SENIOR COMMISSION, CASS COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING Brian Arett, Executive Director of the Fargo Senior Commission, and Marge Fee, President of Cass County Council on Aging, were present. The Fargo Senior Commission request for 2009 is for one mill with matching funds to be received from the state. He discussed different services provided to the elderly as well as different revenue sources that help fund their programs. Their goal is to continue serving senior citizens effectively and efficiently. Mrs. Fee said rural senior clubs have been affected by rising gas prices and meetings are held every other month to help alleviate the costs associated with travel to meetings. MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2009 preliminary budget for the Fargo Senior Commission and for the Cass County Council on Aging. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
