We have
evaluated two vendors that have submitted proposals for aerial
photography services.

Excluding the FM metro area, the Cass County GIS system has black and
white images taken between 1990 and 1991. MetroCog along with the
Cities of Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo, Cass and Clay Counties
contracted in 2002 for high resolution color digital photographs of the
metro area.

We conducted a meeting on Tuesday Feb 24th with the GIS committee,
consisting of Mike Montplaisir, Glenn Ellingsberg, Keith Bemdt, Mike
Zimney, Kay Blakeway and Terry Schmaltz to evaluate and compare the
specifications of the proposals.

The two vendors evaluated were Merrick Co and Sanborn Mapping
Company, Inc. Both are reputable vendors in the GIS industry. Merrick
was the contractor for the MetroCog project in 2002.

The GIS committee evaluated the specifications from both companies and
there was a significant difference in the proposed price between the two
companies with similar specifications. For the resolution of images we
would like to have, Sanborn is almost 43% lower than Merrick's proposed
statement of service. The GIS committee selected Sanborn as the
preferred vendor.

www. casscountygov, com
