<br />~ <br /> <br />SUBJECT POLICY # Page of <br />OFFICE OF PROFESSIONAL STANI"/JIDS (O.P.S.) 1.05 50f6 <br /> <br />Office of Professional Standards will direct the supervisor to discipline <br />the employee as recommended. <br /> <br />2. If the recommendation is suspension without payor termination from <br />employment, the Sheriff will direct the Office of Professional <br />Standards to notify the employee of a Predetermination Hearing. This <br />hearing will allow the employee to present his/her opinions and views <br />regarding the incident directly to the Sheriff. Employees will be <br />allowed to bring any person they desire to the hearing, however, the <br />person may only observe and may not ask any questions, give advice, <br />or interrupt the hearing. This is a courtesy given to the employee by the <br />Sheriff and may be revoked at anytime. Also present during this <br />hearing will be the sergeant assigned to the Office of Professional <br />Standards and the Sheriff as well as any other person deemed pertinent <br />to the hearing by the Sheriff. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Upon completion of the predetermination hearing the Sheriff will <br />review the investigation, recommended discipline and the employees <br />input from the predetermination hearing and will determine the final <br />discipline. <br /> <br />\.., <br /> <br />VI. DISCIPLINARY RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> <br />A. Suspension Without Payor Termination from Employment. <br /> <br />1. If the employee is receiving suspension the Office of Professional <br />Standards will notify the employee's chain of command regarding the <br />decision and they will determine what day(s) the suspension will occur <br />and will write the written reprimand to be placed in the employees <br />personnel file regarding the incident. <br /> <br />2. If the employee is terminated it will occur during a meeting with the <br />employee and the Sheriff will decide the effective date and time. <br /> <br />3. The Sheriff will then document the Final Disciplinary Determination <br />in the OPS complaint file and sign off on the appropriate paperwork. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />The last working day prior to a deputy serving a suspension the deputy <br />must turn into their supervisor their duty weapon, badge, Cass County <br />Sheriff's Office identification, court house key card, squad keys and <br />squad is to be left at the Cass County Sheriff s Office. <br /> <br />~ <br />
