ABATEMENT APPLICATIONS, Approved for Lvnn Utke <br />Mr. Klein said the applicant, Lynn Utke, is requesting the 2007 agricultural assessments be <br />reduced due to flood or flowage easements from the Maple River Dam project. The <br />properties in question are the same as the 2008 assessment appeals just approved by the <br />board of equalization. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded that Abatements #4314, <br />#4315, #4316, #4317, #4318, and #4319 for Lynn Utke be approved, as <br />recommended by the Director of Equalization. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />10. FARGO AIRPORT AUTHORITY LEASE, State's Attornev to pursue leaal action <br />reaardina delinQuent leasehold interest taxes <br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, said his office along with the State's Attorney, have <br />been trying to collect delinquent leasehold interest taxes for property leased by John M. <br />Jones from the Fargo Airport Authority for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mr. Jones <br />farmed the land and has not paid the leasehold interest taxes for three years. The amount <br />due is substantial and continues to increase by 1 % each month the taxes remain unpaid. <br />Mr. Jones lives in Moorhead, Minnesota, and does not own any real estate in Cass County; <br />therefore, in order to collect the taxes, the county must pursue payment through the court <br />system. Mr. Montplaisir said phone calls and letters to Mr. Jones have not been <br />acknowledged. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to direct the State's <br />Attorney to take necessary legal action to collect the delinquent <br />leasehold interest taxes due for the years 2004 through 2006 for Fargo <br />Airport Authority property leased by John M. Jones, 2856 28th Street <br />North, Moorhead, Minnesota. Discussion: State's Attorney Birch <br />Burdick said NDCC 57-22-24 allows the county to collect the taxes <br />against persons charged. Motion carried. <br /> <br />11. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />227,578 through Voucher No. 228,200. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />12. NDACO/NDCCA TOUR; HEAD START BUILDING; MOTOR POOL VEHICLE; BUDGET <br />HEARINGS, Committee reports <br />Mrs. Johnson said the presidents of the North Dakota Association of Counties and North <br />Dakota County Commissioners Association will visit and tour the Cass County Courthouse <br />on Wednesday, July 23,2008, beginning at 3:15 PM. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said a hearing will be held on a re-zoning request for the former Head Start <br />building during a Fargo Planning Commission meeting scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM, <br />Wednesday, July 9, 2008. She plans to attend the hearing on the county's behalf. <br />
